Network Technician – Radio & Wireless (2‑Year Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Network Technician – Radio & Wireless will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing radio communication and wireless network systems for the City of Tshwane.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and repair radio and wireless communication infrastructure to ensure reliable and uninterrupted services.
• Monitor system performance and provide technical support to optimise availability and reliability.
• Configure, test and optimise radio frequency systems to improve coverage and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensing, organisational and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, maintenance records and asset information.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with at least one to two years’ experience in radio communications, wireless systems or telecommunications.
• Valid Code B driving licence, ability to work at heights and willingness to travel to remote sites.
• Must undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints to the Tshwane Metro Police Department.

Required skills

• Knowledge of RF principles and antenna systems.
• Experience with microwave communication and wireless networking.
• Familiarity with VHF, UHF, HF, digital mobile radio (DMR), TETRA, P25 and LTE technologies.
• Network+ certification (preferred).
