Network Technician – Data Centre Facilities (2‑Year Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The City of Tshwane is seeking a Network Technician to install, configure, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot its data centre network infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure and efficient connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain network infrastructure to ensure availability, reliability and performance.
• Monitor, optimise and support structured cabling and network security controls.
• Provide network support by resolving incidents and service requests in line with service standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education with at least 1–2 years experience in ICT network administration or technical support.
• Valid Code B driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Ability to undergo a criminal record check and fingerprinting.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NAT and VPN technologies.
• Experience with enterprise networking equipment (Alcatel, Huawei, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, MikroTik).
• Knowledge of wireless networking standards and Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in structured network cabling and network security controls.
