Millwright – Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Millwright to ensure the reliability, availability, and full capacity utilization of our plant machinery. You will perform both planned and preventative maintenance, supporting continuous production efficiency in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on motors, pumps, belts, gears and related equipment.
• Perform routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments and rewire electrical machinery to improve performance and safety.
• Overhaul spare or outdated machinery to minimise downtime and ensure quick availability.
• Install, align and assemble new equipment, following preventive‑maintenance schedules and best engineering practices.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives, recommend performance enhancements and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Comply with health‑and‑safety regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Required profile

• Matric (or equivalent) with N3 Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Millwright Trade Test certification.
• 3+ years of experience as a Millwright in a manufacturing or FMCG environment, including electro‑mechanical work.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably DMS.
• Knowledge of electrical controls, variable speed drives and motors.
• Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Mechanical maintenance and preventive‑maintenance techniques.
