Mid Level Developer – Applications & Data

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Mid Level Developer to join our Cape Town‑based technology team. The role focuses on maintaining and enhancing existing production applications while also building new features as business needs evolve.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, support and troubleshoot live applications.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to applications, integrations and data.
• Develop new functionality using TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js and Python.
• Manage deployments, logs, rollbacks and monitor system health.
• Ensure database and application governance, including schema migrations and backups.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and services.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation.
• Collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Proven ability to take ownership of existing codebases and improve their reliability.
• Comfortable working independently and handling commercially sensitive information.
• Based in Cape Town or willing to relocate and work full‑time on‑site.
• Legal right to work in South Africa.

Required skills

• TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Python.
• SQL and database governance (schemas, migrations, access management, backups).
• Experience with deployment platforms such as Railway, AWS or Google Cloud Run.
• Git version control in an active repository.
• Third‑party API integration.
• Use of AI‑assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
