Medical Receptionist – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Medical Receptionist to manage patient bookings and medical administration for a remote‑first healthcare practice. The role is fully remote, allowing you to support patients and providers from a home office while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with POPIA.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, confirm and manage patient appointments via phone and online booking systems.
• Handle patient enquiries through phone, email and messaging platforms.
• Capture and update patient records accurately in the practice management system.
• Process medical aid authorisations and claims administration.
• Liaise with healthcare providers, specialists and medical aids on behalf of patients.
• Coordinate virtual waiting rooms and manage patient intake forms.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to POPIA and other healthcare regulations.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in medical reception or healthcare administration.
• Familiarity with medical aid schemes and authorisation processes.
• Matric certificate; a medical administration qualification is preferred.
• Reliable home‑office setup with a stable internet connection.

Required skills

• Proficiency with practice management software such as GoodX or Elixir.
