Media Relations & External Communications Manager

About the role

The Media Relations & External Communications Manager will protect and enhance L'Oreal's reputation through strategic external communication, proactive media engagement and stakeholder relationship management. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability, Corporate Affairs and Engagement Officer, the role leads the development of communication strategies that increase visibility, credibility and influence across key audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a robust media relations strategy to position L'Oreal as a leader in beauty, sustainability and beauty tech.
• Act as the primary point of contact for local media, managing press inquiries, drafting press releases, holding statements, opinion pieces and executive briefing notes.
• Identify high‑level speaking opportunities for senior leadership and prepare spokespeople for interviews, speaking engagements and media appearances.
• Build and maintain a network of journalists, editors and opinion leaders across business, lifestyle, technology and sustainability beats.
• Monitor local media coverage and social conversations to identify reputational risks or opportunities.
• Manage crisis and issues communication in collaboration with leadership, ensuring consistent messaging.
• Transform complex corporate data into compelling stories for external audiences and manage the local corporate website.
• Lead corporate media events such as press conferences, media roundtables and product launches.
• Identify and engage key external stakeholder groups, monitor sentiment and provide strategic communication advice to HR, Sustainability and business divisions.
