Mechanical Designer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our Gqeberha team. You will support project leaders and engineers in component selection, layout design, and detailed drawing preparation for innovative oil‑and‑gas equipment. The role requires close adherence to company procedures and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist project leaders, senior designers or design engineers in selecting components and defining design details.
• Create layout and design of assigned areas following company standards.
• Develop general arrangement drawings and base systems based on customer needs.
• Analyse data to assess feasibility of product proposals.
• Prepare detailed product or system layouts, drawings and schematics.
• Review work orders and procedural manuals to identify critical content.
• Calculate conversion figures for production processes.
• Support systems development, including drafting standards, parts list systems and related programming.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Draughting Certification.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Minimum 5 years of CAD experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Inventor.
• Experience with Creo (Pro‑Engineer) – a plus.
• Knowledge of Windchill/PDM and Teamcenter – a plus.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for detailed part drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and relevant standards (API, ASME).
