Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in the Western Cape. The role focuses on mechanical design of pressure equipment, 3D modelling and collaborative project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design calculations, site inspections, measurements and technical assessments.
• Produce accurate detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models based on engineering inputs, sketches and site data.
• Develop and verify 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Contracts, Manufacturing, Field Services and Spares teams to support project execution.
• Maintain and continuously improve internal drafting and design standards.
• Ensure all drawings and documentation meet company, client and industry requirements.

Required profile

• BTech or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks).
• At least 5 years of experience drafting pressure vessels, piping systems or structural equipment.
• Strong academic background in Strength of Materials, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
