Mathematics Teacher (Grades 8 to 12)

About the role

Curro is looking for a Mathematics Teacher for Grades 8 to 12. The position covers comprehensive teaching duties, curriculum management and student development within the school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan lessons using modern tools and processes, set up workbooks and measure academic improvement and achievement
• Set up, implement, monitor and adjust the term plan, taking into account exams, assessments, school activities and differentiated learning materials for learners with barriers to learning
• Create baseline assessments, recommend subject choices, teaching methods and remedial or catch-up programmes
• Manage the classroom, including the assessment roster, room design, disciplinary rules and communication with learners and parents
• Manage formal and continuous assessments and homework, including moderation, revision and supervision
• Plan and manage extramural activities and outings
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and extra lessons

Required profile

• BEd degree and/or PGCE in FET phase education; an honours degree in education (in the relevant subject) is advantageous
• Minimum 3 years' experience as an FET phase teacher
• SACE-registered and with a clear criminal record
• Willing and able to work extended hours and weekends

Required skills

• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Facilitation, problem-solving and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
