Manual Tester

About the role

Inspired Thinking Group (ITG) is looking for a skilled and experienced Software Tester to join its Development Team. The business is growing rapidly with an expanding client base, and the role sits at the heart of quality assurance, helping to deliver stable, reliable software that meets client expectations. The salary range is 280,000 to 450,000 ZAR per year.

Key responsibilities

• Test web applications against requirements across desktop browsers and mobile devices, ensuring cross-platform compatibility.
• Record, monitor and manage defects, keeping them clear and traceable and communicating with developers and stakeholders.
• Create and maintain manual test documentation such as test plans, test cases, test scripts and defect reports.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders, give clear feedback and take part in defect triage meetings.
• Track test progress against release schedules and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
• Review test environments, coverage and QA processes to support continuous improvement.
• Support project planning by giving accurate estimates for manual testing effort.

Required profile

• At least 2 years' experience in manual QA, including web application testing and cross-browser functional testing.
• Ability to write and maintain test plans, test cases, scripts, scenarios and defect reports.
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Working knowledge of BDD-style acceptance criteria and test scenario writing.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines; excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Desirable: Agile experience, PC and Mac proficiency, ISEB/ISTQB Foundation certificate, and a degree-level qualification.
