Mandarin‑Speaking Graduate Operations Officer

About the role

Our client is seeking a motivated graduate to join the Johannesburg Operations team. The role is ideal for a recent Finance, Banking, Economics or Accounting graduate who is fluent in Mandarin and English and wants to start a career in banking operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and maintaining policies, procedures and operational documentation for the Processing Centre.
• Process inbound and outbound SWIFT messages, investigate anomalies and ensure correct distribution.
• Monitor transactional parameters such as interest rates, FX rates, holidays and deposit settings.
• Support client, NOSTRO and VOSTRO account management, including opening, reconciliation and posting of interest, charges and adjustments.
• Back‑office treasury duties: booking and settlement of Spot, Forward, Swap, derivative, money‑market and bond transactions.
• Handle international settlement activities, including letters of credit, guarantees and collections.
• Process trade‑finance transactions such as bill purchase, forfaiting, refinancing and factoring.
• Ensure compliance with FinSurv reporting, SARB audit requirements and Exchange Control regulations.
• Assist with branch accounting and core banking system optimisation, including testing and issue resolution.

Required profile

• Recent graduate (BCom, BSc) in Finance, Banking, Economics or Accounting.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Analytical mindset with a willingness to learn banking operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in processing SWIFT messages.
