Management / Cost Accountant – Durbanville

About the role

We are seeking a Management / Cost Accountant to support our construction projects in the Durbanville area. The role involves detailed cost analysis, budgeting, and preparation of board‑level financial reports. The successful candidate will be a newly qualified CA(SA) or equivalent, eager to develop towards a Finance Director position.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with project costing and monitor budget versus actual performance.
• Prepare and process project invoices accurately and on time.
• Perform stock costing and support inventory valuation.
• Reconcile cost accounts and contribute to month‑end reporting.
• Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to maintain financial accuracy.
• Assist with project quotes, RFQs, purchases and monitor outstanding orders and deliveries.
• Maintain stock lists, review tax calculations and ensure statutory compliance.
• Compile annual financial statements and prepare board packs and monthly reporting packs.
• Review project costs versus budget, providing analysis at project and GL level.
• Act as a substitute for the financial accountant when required and visit construction sites to verify controls.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification preferred; newly qualified candidates are welcome.
• Willingness to travel to construction sites for short visits.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce board‑ready reports.
• Readiness to work extra hours when needed and a drive to progress to senior finance roles.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
