Maintenance Millwright – Hatchery Operations

About the role

Sovereign is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Millwright to support its hatchery operations. The role involves ensuring all mechanical and electrical equipment runs smoothly to maintain high chick quality and overall hatchery performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on motors, pumps, conveyors, sensors, probes, panels and PLC‑controlled systems.
• Execute job cards, maintain accurate records and follow manufacturer service schedules.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, including gearboxes, bearings, belts, fans and ventilation systems.
• Carry out welding, cutting, grinding and fabrication tasks as required.
• Support breakdown response and ensure 100% compliance with health, safety and food‑industry SOPs.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Millwright in an industrial setting.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Good understanding of hatchery utilities such as chillers, heating, humidity and water systems.
• Ability to work under pressure in a continuous production environment.

Required skills

• Electrical fault‑finding and interpretation of wiring diagrams.
• Mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Proficiency with PLCs, VSDs, sensors and automated control systems.
• Millwright certification.
• Welding, cutting, grinding and basic fabrication.
• Reading electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, fans and ventilation.
• Basic plumbing and water‑system maintenance.
