Maintenance Manager

About the role

This permanent position leads, plans and controls all maintenance activities for production equipment and site facilities within a packaging manufacturing environment. The role is based at the Ottery or Philippi branch and focuses on maximizing plant availability, operational reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a maintenance master plan covering preventive, predictive and corrective work using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Act as the legally appointed GMR 2.1 competent person, ensuring compliance with the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations.
• Implement Reliability‑Centred Maintenance, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root‑cause analysis to minimise operational losses.
• Manage the CMMS asset register, Bills of Materials, PM routines, work‑order flow, backlog control and equipment history.
• Support high Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through disciplined PM compliance and rapid breakdown response.
• Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary technical team of supervisors, artisans and technicians.
• Control annual OPEX and CAPEX maintenance budgets.
• Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Management Systems and FSSC standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education; National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field.
• 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role within manufacturing.
• Proven ability to act as a GMR 2.1 competent person.
• Strong leadership, coaching and budget management skills.
