Maintenance Engineer Technical Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Engineer Technical Assistant will support the engineering function by driving the Asset Capability Assurance process, ensuring safe and efficient maintenance of plant equipment, facilities and shutdowns. The role combines technical maintenance planning with people and safety management.

Key responsibilities

• Define equipment criticality using a risk matrix and develop the overall plant maintenance strategy.
• Perform planned job observations, monitor maintenance work management metrics and ensure high plant availability.
• Lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) investigations, evaluate business cases and implement sustainable solutions.
• Manage SHEQ compliance through the Integrated Management System and enforce control measures for residual risk.
• Oversee the Section’s workforce, maintain labour stability, achieve diversity targets and conduct recruitment interviews.
• Coordinate with site teams to ensure customer satisfaction and clear operational performance communication.
• Audit engineering assets and documentation to standardise spares and new installations.

Required profile

• Experience in plant or industrial maintenance engineering.
• Strong understanding of safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) processes.
• Ability to manage a team, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Proven capability to conduct risk assessments, RCA and implement corrective actions.
