Maintenance Artisan (Millwright) – Automotive Manufacturing

About the role

A leading automotive manufacturing plant in East London is looking for two experienced Maintenance Artisans (Millwrights). The role focuses on maximising equipment availability through preventive maintenance, rapid breakdown response, and continuous improvement of plant machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment according to schedules.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis on equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Carry out lubrication, routine maintenance, and installations for production machinery and plant services.
• Support plant improvement and engineering projects, including emergency breakdowns and after‑hours call‑outs.
• Monitor spare‑parts inventory and ensure timely ordering of required materials.
• Participate in weekly standby and shift duties as per roster requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with Quality, Safety, Health, Environmental and Energy (HSEE) standards and OHS Act regulations.

Required profile

• N4 in Electrical Engineering/Millwright or Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics.
• Red Seal Trade Test Certification (Millwright or Electrician) – essential.
• Minimum 5 years post‑apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting abilities for both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals.
• Computer literacy and experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
