Machine Operator – TimberCity

About the role

The Building Company is seeking a Machine Operator for its TimberCity site in Northriding. The role involves cutting timber and boards to exact customer specifications, providing prompt and efficient service, assisting with vehicle loading, and ensuring that all products are neatly packed and readily accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine machine maintenance and servicing.
• Feed raw material into the cutting machine and adjust machine settings as required.
• Regulate the speed of the machine belt and control temperature settings.
• Execute edge trimming and sanding operations to achieve finished dimensions.
• Attend to customers on the shop floor, answer queries and support loading of vehicles.
• Maintain a tidy cutting area, carry out housekeeping tasks and follow all safety and security procedures.
• Report stock shortages, machine failures and conduct regular stock‑takes.
• Ensure strict adherence to the company’s safety policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education.
• Minimum of 1 year industrial experience, preferably in a timber or manufacturing environment.
• Basic administrative and numeracy skills.
• Good interpersonal (people) skills.
