Library Assistant (EPWP) – Mopani District Municipality

About the role

The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) is offering a Library Assistant position within the Planning and Development Directorate of Mopani District Municipality. The role provides a stipend of R120 per day, subject to statutory deductions such as UIF and tax. The assistant will support daily library operations and help the community access information resources.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer care and housekeeping services in the library.
• Assist users with computer access, conduct information searches and guide them in using library systems.
• Shelve, organise and maintain library materials, ensuring they are correctly displayed and stored.
• Support outreach programmes, make photocopies for patrons and assist with community events.
• Handle cash transactions, issue receipts and maintain accurate financial records.
• Perform any additional tasks delegated by the supervisor, including inventory checks and record keeping.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a certificate in computer literacy.
• Residence close to the assigned library or within the relevant ward.
• Age between 18 and 35 years.
• Preference given to candidates residing near the project location.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow procedural guidelines.
