About the role

The Hantam Municipality is seeking a Librarian Assistant for its Brandvlei library. The role involves providing routine support to library users, promoting a reading culture through events such as Literacy Day and Library Week, and ensuring that library processes run smoothly. This is an entry‑level position focused on customer service and basic library operations.

Key responsibilities

Process procedural applications, including membership registrations and lending/returns.
Attend to user needs and execute specific processes related to library services.
Maintain and arrange book stock, materials, and presentations.
Support activities associated with organizing and preserving library material, including shelving, repairing damaged books, and preparing obsolete stock for removal.

Required profile

Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
Basic computer literacy, particularly proficiency with MS Office.
0–1 year of experience or exposure to public library environments.
