Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP 10)

About the role

The University of Pretoria invites applications for three permanent academic positions (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) under the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP 10). The posts are located in the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology and aim to strengthen research and teaching capacity while improving equity.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a structured development programme for researchers and lecturers.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering or Informatics.
• Mentor and supervise postgraduate students.
• Conduct collaborative research in your specialisation.
• Complete any outstanding PhD studies.
• Contribute to departmental administration on a limited basis.

Required profile

• Applicants must be 40 years or younger and belong to designated under‑represented groups.
• Lecturer: Master’s degree (≥70% average) in a relevant discipline with strong teaching potential.
• Senior Lecturer: Doctoral degree, proven teaching experience, record of publications and successful postgraduate supervision.
• For Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering posts: BEng/BScEng in Metallurgical Engineering or a closely related field.
