Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – New Generation of Academics Programme

About the role

The University of Pretoria invites applications for a permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position within the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) at the Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (CAAC). The role is designed for early‑career academics who are committed to teaching, research and the transformation agenda of the university.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a structured development programme to enhance research and lecturing skills.
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in AAC or Early Childhood Intervention.
• Mentor and supervise postgraduate students.
• Conduct collaborative research in your specialisation and publish nationally and internationally.
• Complete any outstanding PhD requirements.
• Undertake limited departmental administration duties.

Required profile

• Age 40 years or younger and from an under‑represented designated group.
• For Lecturer: Master’s degree in AAC or Early Childhood Intervention with at least 70 % average, potential to become a competent undergraduate lecturer, and registration with the HPCSA.
• For Senior Lecturer: Doctoral degree in AAC or Early Childhood Intervention, proven teaching record, peer‑reviewed publications, supervision of postgraduate theses, and HPCSA registration.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring abilities; leadership potential; experience in interdisciplinary, collaborative research.
