Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying

About the role

The Department of Construction Economics and Management at UCT is hiring two permanent full‑time academics – a Lecturer and a Senior Lecturer – in Quantity Surveying. The successful candidates will teach on‑site, develop course material and contribute to research and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver in‑person lectures and develop teaching resources for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Quantity Surveying.
• Conduct research, supervise postgraduate students and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Participate in departmental administration, management and industry/community outreach.

Required profile

• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and registration as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) in good standing with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional Quantity Surveying experience after graduation.
• For Lecturer level: a Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related built‑environment discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• For Senior Lecturer level: a Master’s degree (and preferably a PhD) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
