Lecturer Nursing (Undergraduate Diploma) – Grade 1/2

About the role

The Western Cape College of Nursing seeks qualified nursing professionals to join its teaching staff as Lecturers for Undergraduate Diploma programmes. The role involves delivering education, coordinating clinical placements, and contributing to curriculum development across multiple campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide education and training to student nurses and supervise their clinical learning.
• Coordinate clinical exposure between college and healthcare facilities, including accompaniment of students.
• Develop, implement and monitor quality‑assurance programmes for undergraduate nursing curricula.
• Participate in curriculum review, policy development and continuous professional development activities.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to college governance structures.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse (and Midwife or Psychiatric Nurse where applicable).
• Minimum 4 years (Grade 1) or 14 years (Grade 2) of recognised nursing experience, with at least 10 years of nursing education experience for Grade 2.
• Post‑basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
• Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and willingness to travel between campuses.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
• Proficiency in teaching and assessment methods for nursing education.
