About the role
The Western Cape College of Nursing is seeking experienced nursing professionals to join as Lecturers (Grade 1 or Grade 2) for its Post‑Graduate Diploma programmes. The role involves delivering education, coordinating clinical placements and contributing to curriculum development.
Key responsibilities
- Provide education and training to student nurses.
- Coordinate clinical learning exposure between the college and clinical sites.
- Conduct clinical accompaniment of students.
- Coordinate teaching, learning and assessment of R635 programmes.
- Develop and implement quality‑assurance programmes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise students and participate in governance structures.
- Participate in the development and review of nursing curricula for Post‑Graduate Diploma programmes.
- Implement new nursing programmes in line with SANC and CHE regulations.
- Support Continuous Professional Development activities and promote the college’s mission.
Required profile
- R425 accredited nursing qualification (diploma/degree) or equivalent allowing registration with SANC.
- Post‑basic qualification in Nursing Education registered with SANC.
- Specialist qualification in a relevant nursing field or a relevant master’s degree (NQF L9).
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse, Midwife or Psychiatric Nurse.
- Grade 1: minimum 4 years general nursing experience after registration.
- Grade 2: minimum 14 years general nursing experience, including at least 10 years in nursing education after the post‑basic qualification.
Required skills
- Knowledge of nursing legislation, acts and policy frameworks.
- Understanding of nursing education programmes and curriculum design.
- Proficiency in teaching, assessment and evaluation methods.
- Ability to develop, interpret and monitor policies.
- Conflict management, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Research, analytical, managerial and interpersonal abilities.
- Computer literacy.
- Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
What we offer
- Salary Grade 1: R 451 533 – R 530 376 per annum.
- Salary Grade 2: R 553 545 – R 726 717 per annum.
- Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, pension fund contribution, housing and medical aid allowance).
