Lecturer in the Drama Department

About the role

The Drama Department seeks a qualified academic to join its teaching team. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivering courses in voice, acting, directing, and theatre theory.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lectures, workshops, and practical sessions across core drama disciplines.
• Supervise and mentor postgraduate research students.
• Engage in scholarly research and creative practice, contributing to the department’s academic profile.
• Participate in departmental administration, including curriculum development and committee work.

Required profile

• Completed MA or PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies with a focus on Directing or Theatre Making.
• For MA holders, a clear plan to complete or progress toward a PhD during the probation period.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the tertiary level.
• Professional artist portfolio with at least three years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to supervise postgraduate students.
• Evidence of research activity and, preferably, creative outputs.
• Experience in academic administration or informal leadership roles.
