Lecturer – Foundation Phase Education (Higher Ed)

About the role

Our client in the Higher Education and Training sector seeks an experienced Lecturer to deliver Foundation Phase education programmes in Port Elizabeth. The role involves teaching, assessment, student support and contributing to the institution’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures across relevant programmes and delivery modes, conduct assessments, mark scripts and provide constructive feedback.
• Support lecturer development through peer reviews, workshops and the planning of academic initiatives.
• Lead student academic development, monitor performance and implement intervention strategies as needed.
• Promote a culture of research and scholarship, contributing to institutional research output targets.

Required profile

• Honours degree (essential); Master’s degree or progress towards one (advantageous).
• 2‑3 years of lecturing experience, preferably teaching education modules at tertiary level.
• Experience in Foundation Phase teaching across all subjects.
• Exposure to research activities, conferences or academic publications is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work proactively, independently and engage students effectively.
