Laboratory Assistant – Food Safety & Quality

About the role

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support our food safety and quality management system. The role involves coordinating internal and external audits, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards in a fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the current quality management system and related documentation.
• Design, develop and implement tools to improve system effectiveness.
• Coordinate and conduct internal system audits, consolidate CPAR and audit reports, and present progress to executives.
• Manage corrective actions, document control and ISO‑formatted procedures.
• Attend external audits, compile action items and support management review meetings.
• Oversee monthly food safety and management review meetings and weekly self‑inspections.
• Maintain NCRs and CPARs, and ensure the information board is up to date.
• Report, manage and close out pest‑control defects and liaise with garden service providers.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Biotechnology or Food Technology.
• Experience in food and beverage process environments, preferably FMCG.
• Strong computer literacy.

Required skills

• Food Safety and Quality Management.
• HACCP, VACCP and TACCP methodologies.
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and cleaning & sanitation protocols.
• Microbiology and Chemistry knowledge.
• Computer literacy (document control, audit software).
