Junior Website Developer

About the role

This is an in‑office, full‑time position based in our Cape Town office. You will report to the Head of Marketing and work Monday to Friday with flexible hours between 07:00 and 19:00. The role focuses on creating and maintaining websites for small businesses using our proprietary Website Builder platform, with training provided.

Key responsibilities

• Build responsive websites using 1‑grid’s drag‑and‑drop Website Builder.
• Adapt layouts, images and content to match each customer’s brief.
• Add custom HTML and CSS where required.
• Set up features such as contact forms, online stores and booking tools.
• Test sites on desktop and mobile, fixing layout, link and functionality issues before launch.
• Make changes based on customer feedback and keep clients informed of progress.
• Update and maintain existing customer websites.
• Follow basic accessibility and SEO best practices.
• Provide consultative solution selling.

Required profile

• Portfolio or examples of websites you have built.
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS; basic JavaScript knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with a website builder, CMS or similar platform.
• Good visual judgment and strong attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication with a professional approach to customer feedback.
• Ability to manage several projects and meet agreed deadlines.
• Willingness to learn new tools and improve your skills.
