Senior Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Join a technology‑driven organisation operating across multiple international markets where infrastructure underpins business success. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will own a mature environment and lead improvements in security, reliability, performance and resilience. You will work hands‑on, shaping standards across virtualisation, storage, networking, databases and disaster recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Own the organisation’s infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and security.
• Manage servers, storage platforms, networking equipment, firewalls, virtual machines and supporting services.
• Maintain, patch, harden and upgrade Linux‑based systems in production and development.
• Administer virtualised platforms (Proxmox, VMware, KVM) including capacity planning and high‑availability.
• Oversee storage environments, snapshots, replication and backup solutions.
• Implement network security, VPNs, firewall policies, segmentation and multi‑site connectivity.
• Support identity management and single sign‑on solutions.
• Maintain high‑availability database environments and optimise performance.
• Keep infrastructure documentation, recovery procedures and runbooks up to date.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and disaster‑recovery processes and participate in after‑hours support rotation.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or systems administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
• Strong Linux administration experience in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience with virtualisation platforms such as Proxmox, VMware or KVM.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing and firewalls.
• Experience with storage administration, replication, backup and disaster recovery.
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Proficiency in scripting/automation using Bash and/or Python.
