Junior Software Engineer – AI Development Pathway

About the role

Our client in Sandton is looking for two Junior Software Engineers to join an AI Development Pathway. The position offers hands‑on experience in building, testing and supporting software solutions while developing strong capabilities in artificial intelligence, automation and modern software engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain software applications using .NET and related technologies.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to build AI‑enabled features and automation tools.
• Participate in code reviews, version control and continuous integration processes.
• Contribute to the design of REST APIs, data pipelines and AI agents.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies and support sprint delivery.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma (or final‑year status) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 0–2 years of commercial software development experience or strong academic projects/internships.
• Curiosity, analytical thinking and a passion for emerging technologies.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong programming fundamentals and OOP concepts.
• Experience with C#, Java or Python.
• Knowledge of Git version control.
• .NET, Azure DevOps, Monday.com.
• Python, SQL, Azure AI Services, OpenAI/Azure OpenAI.
• Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, vector databases.
• Prompt engineering, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents.
• REST APIs and Docker (desirable).

What we offer

• Annual salary range R276,000 – R336,000.
