Junior Primary Jewish Studies Teacher (Grades 1‑3)

About the role

Sinai Academy is seeking a Junior Primary Jewish Studies Teacher for Grades 1‑3. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in Hebrew, Torah, and Jewish values within a multigrade classroom, supporting the school’s Orthodox Jewish ethos and CAPS curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and teach Jewish Studies lessons that align with both the Jewish curriculum and the General Studies CAPS curriculum.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Supervise teaching assistants and interns, and assist with substitution duties.
• Provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to students, fostering confidence and motivation.
• Track student progress, prepare termly reports, and communicate regularly with parents.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment and organise outings in line with safety procedures.
• Collaborate with General Studies teachers and participate in team meetings and school events.

Required profile

• A relevant teaching qualification; SACE registration preferred (support available).
• Minimum three years of teaching experience, preferably in a Jewish or Montessori/Reggio Emilia setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage staff, pupils, and parents.
• Passion for Jewish education and familiarity with Hebrew language instruction and Jewish texts (e.g., kriah, ketiva, Chumash, parsha, brachot, chagim).
