Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Johannesburg. The role offers a recent graduate or early‑career engineer the chance to gain hands‑on experience in designing, developing, testing and improving mechanical products and systems while working alongside seasoned professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies and systems.
• Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support prototype development, testing and validation activities.
• Perform engineering calculations and basic design analyses.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement and project teams.
• Participate in design reviews and implement design improvements.
• Ensure designs comply with company standards and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• BEng, BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–3 years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Good problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor, Creo, CATIA or Siemens NX.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
