Junior Kubernetes Architect (Microsoft Azure)

About the role

The Junior Kubernetes Architect will support the design, implementation and daily operation of Syspro’s Kubernetes platform on Microsoft Azure, working under the guidance of a Senior Architect. This role offers hands‑on experience with container orchestration, cloud infrastructure and AI‑assisted tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing cluster configurations, namespace structures and workload deployments.
• Support day‑to‑day platform operations including deployments, upgrades, patch management and health monitoring.
• Implement and maintain RBAC policies, resource quotas and network policies.
• Contribute IaC assets such as Helm charts, Terraform modules and deployment manifests.
• Participate in incident response, follow runbooks and document findings.
• Learn and apply AI‑assisted monitoring dashboards, auto‑remediation workflows and anomaly detection tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent NQF Level 7).
• 1–3 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps or IT operations with basic exposure to Kubernetes or containers.
• Familiarity with Linux administration, command‑line tools and version control (Git).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

Required skills

• Kubernetes fundamentals and cluster operations.
• Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Docker containerisation.
• Linux command‑line proficiency.
• Helm, YAML and Terraform/Ansible for IaC.
• Git and CI/CD pipeline concepts.
• Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and AI‑assisted tooling.
