SRE Platform Engineer – Cloud Reliability & Automation

About the role

The SRE Platform Engineer will design, build and maintain the reliability, availability and scalability of Syspro’s cloud platform on Microsoft Azure. You will apply site‑reliability engineering principles and modern AIOps tooling to ensure platform resilience and embed reliability into the software delivery lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, reliable platform infrastructure using SLOs, error budgets and reliability targets.
• Automate operational workflows with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Monitor platform health with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or Datadog and lead incident response and root‑cause analysis.
• Maintain and optimise Kubernetes‑based container orchestration environments, ensuring security and optimal resource allocation.
• Leverage AI‑assisted monitoring and AIOps platforms for proactive risk identification and reduced MTTR.
• Collaborate with development teams and the Senior Kubernetes Architect to embed reliability requirements from design through production.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, post‑incident reviews and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery design and keep runbooks up to date.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification).
• 4–6 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps or site‑reliability engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure management.
• Proven ability to own and resolve production incidents independently.
