Junior Copywriter and Digital Marketing Coordinator

About the role

Methys Group, an international technology hub focused on digital, performance and innovation, is looking for a Junior Copywriter to join its team in Century City, Western Cape, South Africa. The role covers content creation and coordination across the group's digital channels, including social media, newsletters, blogs, podcasts and press releases, and also involves supporting qualitative research on tech innovation and investment trends in Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Create and execute content strategy for all Methys group entities: daily social media, weekly newsletters, weekly blogs, weekly podcasts and regular press releases.
• Assist with social media and web channels to amplify content.
• Create content for AfricArena's digital platforms: website, startup portal and AfricArena Wired mobile app (articles, weekly Wired newsletters).
• Follow the designated Brand Guidelines, design all communication materials and audit the brand for consistency across channels.
• Liaise with media on distributing content such as press releases.
• Author qualitative research reports on tech innovation and investment trends in the African ecosystem.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Media Studies, Marketing or Public Relations.
• 1-2 years of proven experience writing copy for digital and non-digital channels.
• A successful experience in a similar role in a media, agency or content-intensive startup is a must; exposure to the technology sector is preferred.
• Excellent copywriting skills, strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
• Experience in qualitative research.
• Autonomous, organised and able to manage several parallel projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency in G-Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, email and others).
• Proficiency with CRM tools (MailChimp preferred, other credible platforms accepted).
• Comfortable updating web and app content through CMS platforms.
