Web Content Specialist

About the role

The Communication and Marketing Department (CMD) of the University of Cape Town is appointing a Web Content Specialist for its Online Communications unit. The post is in Payclass 10, permanent, and is an in-office position at the Mowbray campus precinct in Cape Town. It suits someone with a detailed understanding of digital and web content curation, management, writing and editing, website architecture and work in a web content management system.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to web content strategy
• Curate, manage, write, update and edit digital and web content
• Manage digital and web content schedules
• Liaise with digital and web content owners and managers about their content
• Audit websites for accuracy, currency and compliance with digital presence governance
• Collate relevant web analytics

Required profile

• NQF 6 qualification in a related field
• 6 years' experience in writing, editing and managing digital and web content
• Experience working in a web content management system

Required skills

• Knowledge of HTML and basic CSS (advantageous)
• Experience with a web content management system such as Drupal or WordPress

The annual cost of employment, including benefits for 2026, is between R661 967 and R778 783.
