Junior Civil/Structural Technician – Durbanville or Paarl

About the role

Our client is seeking a motivated Junior Civil/Structural Technician to join their structural engineering team in the Durbanville or Paarl office. You will support the design and detailing of structural components while gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate technical drawings and plans using CAD and related design software.
• Assist in the design and detailing of beams, columns, foundations, slabs and other structural elements.
• Conduct site inspections, take measurements and support structural assessments.
• Liaise with engineers, architects, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure correct design interpretation.
• Review construction drawings for compliance with standards and specifications.
• Help prepare structural reports, material quantities, schedules and project documentation.
• Monitor construction progress and support quality‑control activities.
• Maintain and update technical records, drawings and project files.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years of practical experience in a structural engineering environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience with Revit (advantageous).
• Good understanding of SANS standards, building regulations and engineering best practices.
