Junior Bookkeeper – Cashbook & Reconciliation

About the role

Join a well‑established company based in Pretoria, looking for a Junior Bookkeeper to manage cashbooks, reconciliations and related accounting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile approximately ten cashbooks twice a month, completing final reconciliation by the second working day of the new month.
• Obtain invoices and prepare payment requests for ad‑hoc and recurring expenses, including creditor account reconciliations.
• Capture creditor payments, deposits and receipts in the MDA system and various banking platforms.
• Manage debtor age analysis, electronic and hard‑copy filing of payment requests, and upload month‑end bank statements.
• Calculate and invoice collection commissions, letting commissions, lease fees, asset‑management fees and private aircraft flight charges.
• Assist the Office Manager/Accountant with ad‑hoc reporting, audit file preparation and year‑end archiving.
• Process VAT reconciliations, credit‑card and petty‑cash claims, e‑toll statements, fuel‑card orders and vehicle licence renewals.
• Submit monthly EMP201 returns to SARS and invoice inter‑company and project expense recoveries.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience handling cashbooks and bank reconciliations.
• Grade 12 with accounting and mathematics subjects.
• A diploma or degree in general accounting.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience with Pastel Accounting or similar accounting software.
• Familiarity with various internet banking platforms.
