Java Developer – Life Insurance Systems

About the role

Discovery is looking for a skilled Java Developer to join the Life Systems team that builds and maintains the core platforms for its dynamic life insurance business. You will work in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment, delivering high‑quality software that supports internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high‑level impact analysis, define scope, and provide estimates for technical requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create planning tasks in the SDLC tool and set milestone dates.
• Participate in technical design sessions, research solutions, and clarify requirements with subject‑matter experts.
• Write clean, efficient Java code, conduct unit testing, and fix defects within agreed SLAs.
• Run code through automated code‑review tools, address issues, and perform peer reviews.
• Develop and maintain reusable unit tests and assist test analysts in creating comprehensive test packs.
