IT Teacher - Coding and Robotics (Grades 8-12)

About the role

Reddam House Waterfall, a co-educational, non-denominational school in Johannesburg, is looking for an IT teacher to teach Grades 10, 11 and 12, and coding and robotics for Grades 8 and 9. The school serves students from Stage 1 to Grade 12, is affiliated with the IEB, and offers a wide subject choice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging IT and coding and robotics lessons, and set and mark examinations and other student evaluations.
• Create a positive, nurturing learning environment and motivate students to reach their full potential.
• Evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
• Provide academic support on two afternoons per week and help with two afternoons of co-curricular activities.
• Produce high-quality teaching resources and write report comments.
• Behave professionally regarding punctuality, behaviour, work standards and homework.
• Attend special occasions at the discretion of the Head and carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the School Head or line manager.

Required profile

• University qualification and certified teaching status.
• SACE accreditation.
• Proven track record of teaching IT and coding and robotics, including previous experience with the IEB programme.
• A minimum of 4 years' experience is advantageous.
• Commitment to student development, a passion for the profession, excellent organisational skills and a positive attitude to change.
