IT Governance & Risk Coordinator

About the role

The IT Governance & Risk Coordinator will support the Sanlam Risk & Savings business in ensuring that IT governance standards, risk management practices and audit controls are consistently applied across the Bellville cluster. You will work closely with the CIO, senior IT managers and various compliance functions to drive policy adoption, monitor risks and report on governance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure cluster adherence to Group IT Governance standards, facilitate self‑assessments, gap analysis and implementation of policies.
• Provide governance reporting to the CIO, senior IT leadership and Group Governance Forums, covering information security, operational resilience and policy compliance.
• Maintain and report on the IT Risk Register, including risk identification, assessment, escalation and treatment tracking.
• Coordinate internal and external IT audit activities, monitor remediation actions and oversee control‑effectiveness assessments.
• Collaborate with Internal Governance, Information Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit and IT delivery teams to strengthen governance outcomes and support regulatory assessments.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Information Systems, IT Governance, Risk Management, Internal Audit or Compliance.
• 3–5 years of experience in a technology control environment, such as IT Governance, IT Risk Management, Internal/External IT Audit or Information Security Governance.
• Strong knowledge of IT risk management principles, internal control frameworks, audit processes, information security governance and South African financial‑sector regulatory expectations.
