IT Developer & Automation Engineer (Durban/ Office based)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced IT Developer & Automation Engineer to join our Durban‑based team. This hands‑on, code‑first position focuses on building robust software solutions, automating business processes, integrating APIs, and applying AI to improve efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automation solutions using Python and/or C# .NET, targeting manual or inefficient processes.
• Create and maintain custom applications, scripts, and REST/SOAP API integrations between ERP, POS and third‑party systems.
• Maintain Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate and UiPath/RPA solutions with proper logging, error handling and security.
• Ensure all production code is version‑controlled in GitHub, follows established development, testing and security standards, and receives manager approval before deployment.
• Identify AI opportunities, integrate services such as Azure AI, OpenAI or local LLMs, and enforce data security and authentication controls.
• Develop advanced SQL queries, views, stored procedures and automated data pipelines for Power BI reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software development or automation engineering.
• Proven track record of delivering production‑grade systems and supporting business‑critical integrations.
