About the role

Matatiele Local Municipality is offering a range of 36‑month internship programmes for 2026 across finance, human resources, administration, planning and infrastructure units. The internships are fully funded, provide practical experience related to the candidates' field of study, and aim to develop future professionals for the public sector.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with budget planning, financial reporting, audit preparation and revenue‑expenditure monitoring.
• Provide administrative and secretariat support for council meetings, organisational design activities and development planning processes.
• Support town and regional planning functions, including processing rezoning and subdivision applications.
• Contribute to infrastructure operation and maintenance tasks under supervision.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a relevant National Diploma or degree (e.g., Accounting, Industrial Psychology, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Town Planning).
• Original, stamped proof of residence within the Matatiele municipality (not older than three months) and an academic transcript.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

What we offer
