Intermediate Lighting BIM Specialist

About the role

Smith Tait is seeking an Intermediate Lighting BIM Specialist to join its Cape Town office and support global lighting design projects in collaboration with the Dubai design team. The role focuses on BIM modelling, coordination and quality control for lighting across architecture, interior and MEP disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate lighting BIM models using Revit.
• Coordinate lighting models with architecture, interior and MEP teams.
• Perform clash detection and resolution using Navisworks.
• Conduct quality control and ensure model compliance throughout schematic design (SD), design development (DD), technical design (TD) and issued for construction (IFC) stages.
• Prepare and manage project documentation and BIM deliverables.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on BIM experience, preferably in lighting design.
• Background in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within an international team.
