Independent Accountant - Trust and Small Business Tax Compliance

About the role

This remote contract role offers flexible, high-impact capacity for an accountant with dedicated experience in small business and trust accounting. It delivers specialised accounting and tax compliance support, working about 50-60 hours per year, mostly around provisional and final tax submission months, and ensuring full adherence to South African tax regulations. The position starts mid-January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate provisional tax calculations and returns in line with SARS deadlines.
• Complete and lodge annual income tax returns for small business entities and family trusts.
• Prepare annual financial statements for both company and trust.
• Maintain rigorous tax compliance and manage statutory submission processes end to end.

Required profile

• Proven background operating as an Independent Contractor Accountant.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience managing trust accounting and tax affairs.
• Established track record in small business accounting and expense management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of South African tax compliance and statutory submission requirements.
