IDP Officer – Integrated Development Planning

About the role

The IDP Officer coordinates the Integrated Development Planning process for Mantsopa Local Municipality, ensuring alignment of development objectives with budget and service delivery plans. The role involves stakeholder engagement, monitoring implementation, and reporting on progress to support effective local government service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the IDP process across municipal departments and external stakeholders.
• Compile, review and monitor implementation of the Municipal IDP and its alignment with the budget and Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan.
• Facilitate community participation and ward‑based consultations.
• Prepare IDP reports, schedules, presentations and documentation for council approval.
• Monitor progress of IDP projects, track targets and compile performance reports.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) and a National Diploma or Degree in Public Administration, Development Studies, Local Government Management, Town and Regional Planning or a related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in Integrated Development Planning or a local government environment.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Municipal Systems Act, Municipal Structures Act, MFMA and other local government policies.
• Valid driver’s licence with access to a motor vehicle and willingness to travel within municipal areas.
