ICU Unit Manager – Kathu

About the role

The Registered Nurse Unit Manager will lead the ICU team to deliver safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care in line with hospital standards and policies. This full‑time, onsite position oversees both direct and indirect nursing care for multiple patients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage ICU staff and ensure adherence to the roster at all times.
• Assist staff with intubation procedures when required.
• Provide patient care within the scope of practice and assume total responsibility for assigned activities.
• Attend shift handover and communicate effectively with patients about their care.
• Promote patient health and wellbeing, and audit health records for compliance.
• Control and manage stock, ensuring proper charging and crediting.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years management experience in an ICU setting.
• Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Post‑Basic ICU qualification (essential).
• At least 2 years ICU clinical experience.
• Computer literate and flexible to work shifts.
• Ability to implement and maintain health practice standards and legislation.
• BLS/ALS certification is an advantage.
