ICT Systems Engineer – Network & Internet Security (2‑Year Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The City of Tshwane seeks an ICT Systems Engineer specialised in network and internet security to design, implement, manage and continuously improve its cybersecurity infrastructure. The role protects information systems, networks, applications and data from cyber threats across a medium‑to‑large ICT environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, administer and maintain enterprise cybersecurity technologies and controls to protect the City’s ICT infrastructure, systems and information assets.
• Monitor, detect, investigate and respond to cybersecurity threats and incidents to minimise risk and ensure the resilience of ICT services.
• Implement cybersecurity governance, risk management and compliance measures to ensure adherence to organisational policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Promote continuous improvement of cybersecurity capabilities through technical guidance, collaboration, cyber‑resilience initiatives and the implementation of emerging security technologies.

Required profile

• Three‑year tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, with a valid Code B driving licence.
• At least three years’ experience in enterprise cybersecurity, ICT security operations or systems engineering in a medium‑to‑large ICT environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to respond effectively during system outages and disaster‑recovery situations.

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.
• Microsoft Certified Cloud Security.
• Enterprise cybersecurity technologies and controls (network and internet security).
