ICT Systems Engineer (Back-up and Restore) – Two-Year Fixed-Term

About the role

The City of Tshwane is seeking an ICT Systems Engineer to plan, implement, monitor and maintain backup and recovery solutions. This two‑year fixed‑term position ensures organisational data protection and business continuity across its ICT environment.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimise enterprise backup and recovery solutions to secure data and system availability.
• Implement and support business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities for timely recovery of critical ICT services.
• Apply backup security controls and ensure compliance with data protection policies and regulatory requirements.
• Continuously improve backup services through collaboration, technical support and adoption of emerging technologies.

Required profile

• A three‑year tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in enterprise backup, recovery, business continuity and infrastructure support.
• Valid Code B driving licence and ability to undergo a criminal record check.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills with a customer‑service orientation.
