Human Resources Internship (12-18 months)

About the role

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is offering a 12‑18 month Human Resources internship for South African graduates who are currently unemployed. The programme provides institutional knowledge and on‑the‑job training across multiple depots and departments, giving participants practical experience in HR functions within the rail freight industry.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through various TFR depots and HR departments to gain exposure to core HR processes.
• Assist with administrative tasks, record keeping and data entry.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and employee relations activities under supervision.
• Participate in mentorship sessions and on‑the‑job training workshops.
• Contribute to research and analytical projects related to workforce planning.

Required profile

• South African citizen, aged 18‑35.
• Graduate or recent graduate from a registered TVET College or Higher Education Institution with a qualification in Human Resources or a related field.
• Completed all theoretical training; no bursary obligations.
• Must provide CV, certified Grade 12 certificate, HR qualification transcript, institution letters, ID document and proof of address.
• No prior work experience required.
